We currently have vacancies for 2 Project Worker 2 posts within our Edinburgh Positive Wellbeing Service. Edinburgh Positive Wellbeing Service aims to support children and young people aged from 5 to 24 in Edinburgh and their families affected by the justice system (youth and/or adult). Our aim is to promote positive mental health and wellbeing and to reduce the impact of having a loved one involved in the justice system which will help to break the cycle of intergenerational transmission of adversity.
We are seeking project workers with experience of delivering whole family support; having responsibility for the planning, delivery and evaluation of casework; preparing detailed assessments and review reports; experience of delivering group support for children, young people or adults and experience of managing a complex caseload.
The service previously focussed on support for children and young people affected by the imprisonment of a family member. It is widely recognised that this can have a significant long term impact on children and young people but we also recognise that other aspects of the justice system can be impactful on children and young people's health, wellbeing and happiness. As such, agreement has been reached with our commissioner, City of Edinburgh Council, to broaden our criteria to enable support for children and young people who are affected by having a family member involved in the justice system.
Our project workers support children, young people and families to identify their goals and to co-design and deliver bespoke packages of support which reflect the specific needs of each individual and family.
If you are passionate about supporting and empowering families affected by the justice system, then this is a great opportunity to join Barnardo's as a family and community support worker.
