Barnardo's Scotland has three established services working with young people and women in custody. Outside in Youth Work service, Parenting Matters and Hear and Now our trauma, bereavement and loss service.

Vacancies have arisen for skilled and experienced Project Worker 2's who are able to demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality services to vulnerable young people and women.

As such you will bring a range of experience including delivering innovative Youth Work and Parenting programmes within HMP/YOI Polmont.

You will work flexibly and creatively, alongside Barnardo's colleagues, and in partnership with the SPS and other agencies to develop and deliver a service that reflects the needs of young people and women in custody.

The Services

Outside In delivers Youth Work services to HMP/ YOI Polmont using specific and proven approaches which take account of the needs of young people in custody and focus on the individual young person in addressing those needs. To plan and deliver learning opportunities that will support personal development, life skills and help young people believe they have control of their lives both within and out with the establishment. To provide knowledge to prison staff who are undertaking formal Youth Work qualifications.

Parenting Matters (Scotland) is a parenting programme designed by Barnardo's and co-delivered with SPS Parenting Officers.

The programme works with women and young men within HMP/YOI Polmont who are parents, supporting them to have the best possible relationship with their child and family, both during their time within custody and once liberated.

Candidates will have a professional Youth Work qualification recognised by the CLD Standards Council or equivalent with a proven track record of working with young people, women and their families.
