It is also home to 25 percent of the UK’s rare and endangered species. It is a truly unique place to work, with our dedicated and passionate communications and engagement team who are committed to providing the highest quality information and engagement experience for our varied audiences, every day. Furthermore, there is access to some of the most beautiful countryside straight from our Headquarters office door.

The Cairngorms National Park Authority is a fantastic place to work and offers great opportunities to grow your career. The Park Authority is listed in the UK’s top 100 best not- for-profit companies to work for. We’re dedicated to both this amazing place and our employees.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Communications Manager to join the Park Authority and support nature restoration and species recovery across the Cairngorms National Park.

The Park Authority is an inclusive organisation and we welcome applications from everyone irrespective of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, relationship status, disability, age and social class. We particularly welcome applications from individuals from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, disabled and LGBTQ+ communities, as they are under-represented in the environment sector.

We are Disability Confident committed employer, if you are an applicant with disabilities who meets the essential requirements of the post, we will interview you. In all circumstances the Park Authority appoints on merit-based evidence the applicant supplies in meeting the essential criteria for the post.

The Role:

The Digital Communications Manager will provide strategic leadership on digital communications, identifying opportunities to grow and develop our online presence and working creatively to engage key audiences. Meaning that you’ll have the opportunity to shape how people experience and understand the Cairngorms National Park online, bringing fresh ideas and confidence to a role with real visibility and purpose.

As the postholder you will help position the organisation – and the wider Cairngorms National Park – as a leader in tackling the nature and climate crisis, as well as a champion for local communities and for a range of key stakeholders. Giving you the chance to use your expertise to support work that matters, helping tell powerful stories in a way that inspires action and pride.

In this role you will take a strategic and collaborative approach to managing the suite of National Park and Park Authority digital channels, helping increase understanding of – and support for – our work. Channels and content should be tailored for specific audiences across the National Park (visitors, land managers, local businesses, residents etc) and maintained to the highest standard. Meaning that you’ll be trusted to lead a varied and high-impact digital portfolio, making sure different audiences can easily connect with the Park Authority’s work in ways that feel relevant, accessible and engaging.

Reporting to the Head of Communications and Engagement, you will line manage staff looking after social media, the website and Cairngorms 2030 communications. Providing you the opportunity to step into a supportive leadership role where you can guide and develop talented colleagues, while working closely with senior communications leads to deliver shared priorities.

You will play a key role in providing training and support for individuals across the organisation in the effective use of digital communications channels. Whereby your knowledge will help colleagues feel more confident using digital channels well, giving you the chance to influence good practice across the whole organisation.

As the Digital Communications Manager you will ensure a consistency of approach in all areas and a seamless connection with the Park Authority’s media and print outputs, working closely with the Media Communications Manager. This will involve you playing an important connecting role, helping digital, media and print communications feel joined-up, professional and consistent for everyone who engages with the Park Authority.
