An opportunity to make a positive impact on peoples’ lives and community

Caledonia Housing Association is one of Scotland’s leading social housing providers and has been recognised as one of the top UK Housing Associations to work for, with the vision of providing “Homes and Services that make life better”. We are committed to providing high quality affordable housing, building new homes and transforming customer services, across the 8 local authorities in which we operate, employing approximately 200 staff.

About the role

The Caledonia Housing Association Group is one of Scotland’s leading providers of high quality affordable homes, with over 5,500 homes owned and managed across various areas in Scotland. We have launched an ambitious programme of business transformation that puts our customers’ needs first. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Clerk of Works to join our Assets team and play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of our vision: “homes and services that make life better’.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who has the technical knowledge and ability to ensure that Caledonia’s planned maintenance contracts, development and regeneration projects are designed and constructed to the highest possible standards. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective quality control of, planned replacement programmes, cyclical maintenance works, new build housing projects as well as major refurbishments.

Candidates must have a working knowledge of building services, in particular heating, ventilation, communal heating systems and low carbon technologies. Previous supervisory, quality control and monitoring experience is required and expected to be supplemented with a relevant qualification. Flexibility is key to this role as there is a requirement to be involved in the quality monitoring of a wide range of projects and provide assistance to colleagues on matters which may not be mechanical in nature.

An excellent communicator, you will be well organised and have the ability to work on several projects simultaneously as well as liaise closely with key stakeholders and other departments directly affected by the works. You will ensure that the association follows the appropriate legislation including current Health & Safety legislation. You will also have good IT skills and have access to your own car as travel across our areas of operation.

Benefits

As a Caledonia Housing Group employee, you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including:

  • Ongoing investment in your personal development with access to internal and external training qualifications
  • Annual Leave entitlement starting at 36 days per year (increases with length of service)
  • We operate a flexi-time system
  • Generous contributory pension scheme
  • Health benefit
  • Wellbeing services offering support and confidential advice for you when you most need it including counselling and in-house mental health first aiders
  • Volunteering opportunities

As an inclusive employer, we’re open to having a conversation with you about flexible working.
