The Care Inspectorate has a statutory responsibility to further improvement in the quality of care across social care and social work in Scotland. Our work goes across early learning and childcare, integrated health and social care, social work, children’s services, social care, and community justice and we work collaboratively with organisations to support improvement in the quality of care
The Care Inspectorate is looking to recruit a Head of Improvement Support to lead and take responsibility for the development and delivery of improvement support, involvement, and equalities for the organisation with the specific aim of improving outcomes for people experiencing care across Scotland.
About the role
Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Strategy and Improvement/Deputy Chief Executive, the postholder will act as the Care Inspectorate’s national lead on improvement support for the care sector. Leading on the development, delivery and evaluation of all improvement support activity by the Care Inspectorate, with the aim of improving the care experienced by people across Scotland. The postholder will support care providers, health and social care partnerships and other local and national partners to further improve outcomes for people who experience care. The postholder will also lead on the involvement of people experiencing care and their families in scrutiny and improvement support activity, promoting co-design and co-production to improve outcomes for people and lead on the equalities workstream across the organisation.
In addition, the postholder will develop relevant improvement support and involvement interventions, supported by subject matter experts, responding to areas for improvement identified through information from scrutiny work and intelligence. The postholder will work collaboratively with a range of other scrutiny and improvement bodies and workforce development organisations across Scotland, and further afield, to ensure that improvement support and other activities to improve care are collaborative and well-coordinated. The postholder will be expected to work at a strategic level with Scottish Government colleagues and across national workstreams.
About you
You will hold a professional qualification in an appropriate discipline, preferably to degree level, together with a nationally recognised improvement support qualification.
You will have experience working at a national and local level, with the ability to demonstrate how you have designed and led successful improvement support programmes and interventions in care or a related field, working with subject matter experts. You will also be committed to hearing the voice of people experiencing care to shape improvement support initiatives and reduce inequalities across social care. We are looking for someone who works collaboratively, has a focus on outcomes for people and has the ability to drive innovative practice in social care and social work.
You will be as comfortable delivering a complex presentation at board level as working with providers and care staff to develop and apply improvement support resources for positive change. You will understand a variety of ways of supporting improvement, including theoretical and practical approaches.
