Key Worker

About the Role

CEIS Ayrshire is looking for a motivated and person-centred Key Worker to join our Employability Services team. This role will provide tailored employability support to individuals across North Ayrshire, helping them identify and reduce barriers, build confidence, develop practical skills and progress towards sustainable employment, education or further training.

As a Key Worker, you will be a consistent point of contact for clients, managing a caseload and working collaboratively with colleagues, employers, Local Authorities, DWP, training providers and community partners to deliver high-quality support and achieve positive outcomes.

What You’ll Do

• Carry out initial and ongoing assessments to understand each client’s strengths, aspirations, support needs and barriers to progression.
• Develop, agree and regularly review individual action plans with clear and achievable goals.
• Provide one-to-one and group employability support, including CV development, job search, application support, interview preparation and work-readiness activities.
• Identify suitable training, qualifications, work experience, employer opportunities and specialist support.
• Work with Business Services and Skills & Training colleagues to support effective job matching and progression routes.
• Maintain regular, purposeful contact with clients and proactively re-engage individuals where needed.
• Support clients to sustain employment, education or training outcomes.
• Maintain accurate client records, evidence, action plans and outcome documentation in line with contractual, quality and data protection requirements.
• Contribute to team and organisational performance targets, service improvement and effective partnership working.

About You

We are looking for someone who can build positive professional relationships, communicate clearly, manage a caseload effectively and support individuals from a wide range of backgrounds to move towards their goals.

Essential

• Experience in case management, employability or another relevant client-facing support role.
• Ability to engage clients, build rapport and maintain effective professional relationships.
• Understanding of barriers that may affect progression into employment, education or training.
• Ability to assess needs and develop practical action plans and interventions.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and listening skills.
• Confidence using digital systems and maintaining accurate records.
• Ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to delivering a high-quality, person-centred service.

Desirable

• Previous experience in employability, employment services, community development, careers, training or a related support environment.
• Experience managing a client caseload and supporting people towards positive progression outcomes.
• Knowledge of the local labour market and local employability, training and community support provision.
• Experience of partnership working with employers, Local Authorities, DWP, training providers or community organisations.
• A relevant qualification in employability, careers guidance, community development, social care, education or a related discipline.
