About the Role

A City Building Floor Layer is a valued member of the organisation carrying out a wide range of flooring works to domestic and non-domestic properties.

Based within the GCC Division’s Floor Laying section you will be involved in various aspects relating to floor laying working within all the Flooring sections operational areas.

As a Floor Layer you will be responsible for the full installation process including measuring and drawing up carpet and vinyl specifications, creating efficient cutting lists to minimise waste, and carrying out all necessary floor preparation prior to installation.

You must deliver high quality finishes in all fitting work, maintain a clean and tidy work area, dispose of all waste after completing the work, and reinstate any moved items to their original position.

You will deliver excellent customer service and competently carry out the installation work to the client’s specification. All work must be carried out safely and in accordance with City Buildings policies and procedures.

What You Will Bring

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified Floor Layer with extensive knowledge of installing a wide range of flooring products. You will be experienced working in domestic and non-domestic properties and will be able to maintain high quality standards while working to established work schedules. You will be reliable and able to work independently or as part of a busy team.

You will effectively communicate with key stakeholders including members of the public to keep them informed of work progress, and coordinate fitting schedules when required.

The Floor Layer will demonstrate strong organisation skills as this role involves managing resources, documentation, and timelines simultaneously to deliver an efficient service. You will also have great attention to detail in your fitting works and when recording any details to minimise errors.

Holding a full UK driving licence is advantageous as you may be required to drive in this role.
