Overview of Digital Office

We are the Digital Office. Leaders of digital transformation and delivery across Scottish Local Government. Founded in 2016, we support Scottish local authorities with their digital transformation journeys. We translate and align the actions within the National Digital Strategy into collective and scalable initiatives.

Adopting a “Once for Scotland’ approach to digital transformation, our local government Digital Partnership helps local authorities to harness the full potential of technology, driving service delivery, enhancing outcomes, and efficiencies. In effect, doing more with digital.

Our dedicated team works closely with local authorities across Scotland, providing the leadership, guidance, resources, and expertise needed to navigate the complexities of the ever-changing digital landscape. We understand that each council has unique challenges and priorities, that’s why our approach is always tailored to meet specific needs, ensuring our digital delivery is always with a human touch.

The Digital Office for Scottish Local Government, in partnership with COSLA, are developing a team to identify opportunities for design and adoption of common solutions (process, technology, governance) of Community Health Index in Local Government (CHILG).

A key priority foundation element of this work is to enable wider adoption in Social Care of the Community Health Index (CHI) (already in wide use in core NHS systems) as a patient identifier to streamline the patient journey between Health and Social Care providers with dramatically improved outcomes in key services areas such as hospital discharge.

Key Responsibilities

  1. This post will focus on bringing together and developing CHILG in the Health & Social Care (HSC) sector alongside an evolving project landscape in the HSC portfolio e.g. Digital Telecare, Digital Front Door.
  2. Facilitate and contribute to the design, production and delivery of a range of CHILG products (i.e. guidance documents, templates, common technology solutions and reports) for HSC Providers to support them in transforming their identity journey to integrate CHI.
  3. Implement and maintain high quality project management and planning procedures to ensure the CHILG project is effectively controlled and delivered to achieve the expected benefits.
  4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, to ensure full communication and co-operation with each Project stakeholder to provide the highest level of project management support and deliver expected outcomes.

Home based with some occasional travel throughout Scotland
