COSLA is the cross-party organisation that champions the vital work of Scotland's Councils an in order to secure the resources and powers they need. We work on councils' behalf to focus on the challenges and opportunities they face, and to engage positively with governments and others on policy, funding and legislation.
An opportunity has arisen to join COSLA's Children and Young People team as a Policy Officer. The Children and Young People Team has a wide ranging policy development remit including across early learning and childcare, education; promoting and integrating children’s services; keeping The Promise care experienced children and young people; addressing child protection and youth issues as well as tackling child poverty.
Priorities for this role will include working with colleagues to support the development, agreement and advocacy of COSLA's positions across relevant policy areas. This will include engaging with a range of stakeholders across Local Government, the Scottish Government, public bodies and representatives from across the the third and private sector.
This is a temporary position for a 6 month period, we are happy to consider secondments.
