We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated After School Club Manager for the newly formed Crook of Devon Kids Club. Based in the friendly community at Fossoway Primary School, this new post offers the chance to develop a career in play-work through establishing and managing this brand new after school club and helping shape its future, including potential opportunities to expand the hours and offering of the club over time.

This role will be responsible for developing and overseeing the provision of high-quality play experiences within an after-school setting, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the service and offering support and care for children. You will work with and support staff in all aspects of the service to ensure effective delivery in a fun, safe and engaging environment, with the support of a parent-run voluntary management committee for this not-for-profit service.

We are looking for applicants who:

− are organised, caring, fun and creative;

− have the initiative and flexibility to facilitate the successful running of this newly formed club;

-Have SVQ3 or above in social services (Children and young people) / HNC in Childhood Practice (or equivalent)

AND a BA in Childhood Practice (or equivalent) or be willing to work towards this qualification.

− Able to achieve Managers registration with the SSSC within 6 months of commencing employment.

Main responsibilities:

- Develop and implement effective quality assurance and evaluation processes and develop improvement plans with a focus on improving outcomes for children.

- Lead and manage the club, delivering high-quality, child-centred play experiences.

- Support, supervise and develop staff and volunteers to ensure excellent childcare practice.

- Create a safe, caring and inclusive environment for around 20 children, building positive relationships with families and professionals.

- Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging activities that support children’s wellbeing, confidence, learning and social development.

- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour management, first aid and all club policies are fully implemented and regularly reviewed.

- Maintain accurate records, attendance, incident reporting and any required reports or monitoring information.

- Promote a positive team culture and participate in ongoing training and professional development.

- Maintain a clean, stimulating and well-resourced environment that supports children’s development and is left ready for the next school day.

- Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the effective running of the service.

Education / Qualifications:

- SVQ 3 in Social Services Children and Young People/ HNC in Childhood Practice (or equivalent) And

-BA in Childhood Practice or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards this qualification.

− First aid qualification (or a willing to achieve this ahead of your start date).

− Food hygiene certificate Level 2 (or a willing to achieve this ahead of your start date).

Knowledge / Experience:

− Experience of working with children in group settings.

− Knowledge of Child Protection and GIRFEC.

− Knowledge of key local and national guidance and best practice documentation.

− Experience of developing and implementing effective quality assurance systems and processes.

− Knowledge of relevant legislation and SSSC Codes of Practice.

− Experience of creating and implementing effective care plans.

− Knowledge of key play work theory.

− Experience of managing staff and/or volunteers.

Other Requirements:

− Must be able to demonstrate the right to work in the UK.

− PVG check required.
