Are you a qualified Social Worker with experience of working with children and families or in family placement?

Do you have a wealth of knowledge and experience that you can use to work autonomously and as part of a team?

This post offers the opportunity to join a small developing organisation with a committed and enthusiastic team to enhance knowledge and skills in the specialist area of family placement within a very supportive setting.

Reporting to the Lead for Social Work, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of placements provided by foster carers. This will be done through assessing, monitoring and supporting carers in their task of caring and improving outcomes for looked after children and young people.

You will work alongside other professionals with a “Team around the child approach” to support Foster Carers in their relationship with the children and young people they look after.

Experience in either a Practice Team, Children’s residential or family placement setting is desirable for this role.

The experience and qualities Foster Care Connect are looking for are:

• Degree in Social Work or relevant qualification in the field, such as DipSW, CSS, CQS (Essential)

• Registered with the Social Services Council, or other British equivalent (Essential)

• Proactive team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly and independently

• Good working knowledge of child protection procedures and legislation as applied to looked after children in Scotland

• A good working knowledge and understanding of the issues facing parents and foster carers

• An understanding of the National Fostering Standards and The Promise

• A full driving license and use of car for business (travel across Scotland will be required) is desirable

This is an extremely rewarding role, which can make a real and significant difference to vulnerable children and young people in our society.

The successful candidate will become part of a developing agency which aims to be sector leading, embraces relationship-based practice and focuses on addressing the implications of adverse childhood experiences.

We offer an attractive remuneration package and the opportunity for a flexible geographical area based on carer locations.
