Modern Apprentice - Fixed Term 24 Months

Govanhill Housing Association is a well-established, community-controlled Registered Social Landlord operating within the Govanhill and Merrylee communities of Glasgow. We own and manage around 2,800 homes and provide a Factoring Service to a further 1,500 private owners.

The Association has a substantial Capital Investment Programme, carries out acquisition and improvement of tenemental stock as well as delivering a new build programme. We work closely with our subsidiary company, Govanhill Community Development Trust, whose community development and regeneration services complement our own role as a social landlord.

We are seeking to recruit a keen and enthusiastic Modern Apprentice to join our Tenancy Services team who will help us deliver an excellent service to our tenants and other customers. This is an entry level role where you will be trained in all aspects of tenancy management and the delivery of excellent services to our customers.

The post will cover assisting with a variety of tenancy services duties which will include tenancy allocations, void management, dealing with anti-social behaviour and tenancy and estate management. The duties are many and varied but will involve working closely with tenancy services staff to ensure the smooth running of the team. Your learning and development will be supported by an excellent in-house training programme as well as providing you with the opportunity to complete a Chartered Institute of Housing Qualification.

Candidates must be :-

- Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (including Word and Excel)

- Have good verbal and written communication skills

- Be empathetic

- Work well in a team

- Have good customer services skills

- Have good organisational and time management skills

This would be an ideal role for someone looking to begin their professional career in housing and applicants should demonstrate transferable skills in their Application Form, through previous experience within education settings, voluntary work, extra curricular activities and any other roles they have held.

To complete the Modern Apprentice programme you must complete the CIH Level 4 in Housing and the SVQ & SCQF Level 6 in Housing along with the SCQF Level 4 Core Skills. Support will be provided to attain these qualifications. Attainment of these qualifications, and experience gained throughout the apprenticeship, would allow applicants to apply for Assistant/Administration roles within a Housing Association.

As the Govanhill area has a diverse community, the ability to speak a community language is desirable but not essential.
