Job Title: Part time, Personal Assistant
Location of Job: Findochty
Term: Permanent, subject to a three month trial period
Working Hours: 9-10am Mon-Sun, 6-7pm Mon-Sun. Job share available every 2nd weekend is a requirement. Timings can be slightly flexible for the right candidate.
Assistants also required to provide cover for other team members due to holidays and sickness. Must be flexible. Working hours to be discussed and agreed with the employer.

- Job Purpose and Way of Working
The aim of the job is to provide assistance to an elderly lady with dementia and variable mobility. AM visit is to provide personal care, wash, dress, prepare and serve breakfast, medication management and to prepare and leave lunch. PM visit is to prepare and serve evening meal, medication management, and get ready for bed. PM visit can be split into 2 x 30 minute visits if this is more suitable.
Duties will include:
- Supporting the lady with personal care.
- Support with preparing and serving meals.
- Support with medication management.
Any questions concerning these duties may be asked at the interview stage. Full training will be provided for all successful applicants.
· Supervision and reporting relationships
Personal Assistants will be directed by and accountable to the employer. It is necessary to ask the employer what the support needs are, observing her directions and requests. It is also necessary to respect the family privacy and to maintain confidentiality at all times.
· Skills, abilities and desirable personal qualities
Applicants must be reliable, trustworthy and punctual and must be able to work with the lady on a one to one basis, also be able to work as part of a team
· Training
Mandatory training will be provided. This includes: Adult support & protection. Any other training needs will be discussed and determined by the Employer and social worker.
· References and the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme
A reference from 2 employers, one of which should be current or recent is required. Employees will be required to register with the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme. It is the Personal Assistant’s legal responsibility to join the PVG scheme if they want to work or continue in a ‘regulated role’ The fee for the disclosure will be reimbursed to the personal assistant in their first month’s wage.
