A little about our organisation:

Our Vision

Home-Start Stirling believes that every child is entitled to have the best start in life regardless of the disadvantage that they face. We recognise the importance and value of family life, especially in the early years.

In working in partnership with families we endeavour to give parents the skills, knowledge and confidence to provide their children with a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. Where possible we will support a family to remain together and help parents to understand the fun of family life.

We will strive to ensure that every child we meet has the care and support that they need to help them to reach their own potential.

Our Aims

At Home-Start Stirling we aim to….

· Provide parents with the support and encouragement they need to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for their children

· Increase parent’s confidence in their own skills by using a strength-based approach so they can manage day-to-day life with informal supports.

· Work in partnership with the family to identify their own goals and outcomes.

· Use a trauma informed approach to mitigate the ongoing difficulties that early childhood trauma can cause in a child’s development.

· Work in partnership with other organisations to assess and monitor the needs of children.

· Keep children safe from harm.

· Recruit, train and retain sufficient volunteers to provide support to the families referred to the service.

· Provide support to volunteers that offers opportunities to challenge them and develop their skills.

What We Do

Home-Start is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families with young children. We offer support that is responsive to the needs of parents and children in our local communities.

Home-Start Scotland is our parent organisation and supports the work of Scottish Home-Starts by providing training, information, guidance and support to each existing and potential scheme. They, in turn are part of Home-Start UK, based in Leicester

The relationship between Home-Start UK and Home-Start Stirling is set out in the Home-Start UK Agreement signed by Home-Start UK and ourselves. The agreement incorporates the Standards and Methods of Practice Standards against which our performance and the performance of all Home-Starts can be evaluated.

We have real pride in our reputation for quality, reliability, service and value, and recognise that this is built very much on the commitment and skills of our staff. We are looking for someone to lead the staff team by example, with integrity and commitment to our values.
