Housing Advisor (Part Time)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Houseability team. Houseability provide a housing information, advice and advocacy service to people with disabilities or long-term health problems, living in Aberdeenshire or wishing to relocate there.

We provide a home visiting and telephone/online service to clients where we can offer one to one advice and support in relation to any housing issue query they may have.

This role would suit a current Housing professional looking to step up and gain more knowledge or someone with the relevant transferable skills willing to further their development through on the job training and online courses in the Housing sector. Training can/will be provided.

We seek a self-motivated, well organised, client focussed person with the ability to deal with clients with varying degrees of disability and health related problems with empathy and compassion. The ability to travel throughout the Aberdeenshire boundary area is essential. You must have excellent communication skills, have a flexible approach and be a good listener as well as having a non-judgmental, accepting and open-minded approach to helping clients identify and find solutions to their housing needs.

The ability to work in partnership with the client and other relevant agencies such as the Local Authority Housing & Social Work departments including Occupational Therapists, Care Managers and housing staff, Housing Associations and the NHS is essential. A pro-active approach to sourcing new partners and referrals is essential, as is the ability to create and maintain good working relationships with these partners. An ability to collect data and provide well organised reporting is essential.
