BTA is proud to once again partner with ILF Scotland to recruit an exceptional Assessor who will work at the heart of ILF Scotland, planning, organising, and conducting ILF award assessments and reviews. This is an exciting time to be part of the ILF Scotland team following the recent re-opening of the Independent Living Fund, which will increase the number of disabled people who will receive additional funding to help achieve their independent living outcomes.

This position offers flexibility, with the opportunity for one individual to work full-time at 35 hours per week, alternatively this role can be divided into two part time positions working 17.5 hours each. We welcome applications from those seeking to balance their career with other commitments while contributing to ILF Scotland mission.

Your New Organisation

ILF Scotland operates as a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB). It came into existence following the closure of the UK ILF in June 2015 and has been responsible for administering funding for Scottish and Northern Irish ILF recipients since July 1, 2015. This funding is aimed at empowering disabled people to live independently, affording them control, choice, and preserving their dignity.

In September 2023, the Scottish Government unveiled an initial year one investment of £9 million to reopen the 2015 Fund to new recipients in Scotland. It is anticipated that this funding will increase over the next three years.

From April 2024, the Independent Living Fund re-opened to new applicants for the first time since 2010, delivering on a key commitment made in the Scottish Government’s 2023 to 2024 Programme for Government. Up to 1,000 additional disabled people with the most complex needs will now be able to access the Fund, which has re-opened after 14 years.

Your New Role

As a key role in ILF Scotland, you will be planning, organising, and conducting ILF award assessments and reviews throughout the Highlands and Grampian areas. You will work in partnership with recipients and their families / carers, social work services and voluntary services ensuring our funding supports meaningful independent living outcomes and ensuring our vision for “Independent living to be a reality for all disabled people living in Scotland and Northern Ireland” is a reality for many.

Furthermore, in this role you will represent ILF Scotland as an ambassador, striving to build strong relationships with stakeholders and promoting the principles of ILF Scotland to achieve excellent outcomes with recipients, their families, and carers, ensuring choice, independence and social inclusion.

You will be working directly with recipients, their families, and carers, collaborating with Health and Social Care Partnerships and third-sector organisations.
