Job Title: Duty Manager

Salary: £34068.80

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Responsible To: Operations and Finance Manager

Overview: This post has a blend of administration shifts (office based) and operational manager shifts to cover the opening hours of the building. This post is one of two Duty Managers. The post has the following key responsibilities:

· Line manager of Duty Officers, Ice Rink, Hygiene, and Health and Wellness staff. (Health & Wellness covers the Gym, Adult Fitness Programme and Health Referral).

· Overall responsibility for staff training & qualifications and child protection lead.

Responsibilities

· To be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Moray Leisure Centre and associated facilities

· To be responsible for ensuring the effective use and safe operation of the Ice and Health and Wellness facilities within Moray Leisure Centre, focusing specifically, but not exclusively, on general operation, activity programming, bookings and invoicing, events, development, and financial performance

· To directly line manage and support the Ice Rink, Hygiene, and Health and Wellness teams.

· To directly line manage and support the Duty Officers

· To be responsible for all aspects of staff recruitment including induction, relevant training and subsequent mentoring and guidance for the full operational facility

· To support all department Supervisors to ensure that staff are deployed efficiently in accordance with policy and procedures

· To implement, monitor and review health and safety systems of work and policies within the Leisure Centre and to ensure that all staff are conversant with and adhere to instructions and written procedures at all times

· To devise and support the facility staff rota in line with the staffing establishment and arrange appropriate cover for absences as required

· To ensure high performance and presentation standards of the staff and building are maintained at all times

· To ensure that the financial procedures are followed at all times and to support the senior management team in monitoring the centre budget, reducing costs and increasing income where possible

· To help to establish a sales culture and contribute to growing the Fit Life Membership scheme

· Engage with customers and staff on the operation of Moray Leisure Centre

· To work effectively with all clubs and user groups to ensure that customer care standards are upheld, and that facilities and equipment are provided in accordance with the needs of different user groups and individuals

· To ensure the activity booking system and Fit Life membership scheme is administered and maintained to a satisfactory standard

· To assist with the monitoring and collation of performance statistics and other returns as required. specifically, this post will be responsible for Usage and Footfall reports

· To ensure customer information is up to date, available and delivered to standard

· To monitor the cleanliness of Moray Leisure Centre and surrounds and carry out cleaning duties when required

· To ensure Child Protection procedures are at the highest standard and staff are well versed in how to deal with any issues

· To be a key holder and ensure the security procedures are complied with at all times and respond to out of hours calls when required

· To carry out regular maintenance inspections and duties in relation to buildings, surrounding areas and equipment and to maintain appropriate records

· Ensure all Leisure Centre staff have up to date training and qualifications and developing staff training programmes

· To be the on duty first aider and to lead in emergencies

· To carry out any task that may reasonably be requested by your Line Manager

Other Duties:

Person Specification

Experience

· Supervisory experience in the leisure industry or comparable

· Evidence of holding a position of responsibility in the customer service industry

· A clear understanding of customer needs in effective facility management

Education and qualifications

· HND health and fitness or equivalent experience

Qualifications to be achieved immediately (training provided)

· First aid (3 days)

Qualifications to be achieved within 1 year of starting (training provided)

· National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

· Pool Plant Operator

· Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport

· Child Wellbeing Protection Officer

· Health and safety (IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent)

· Level 2 Gym instructor, Level 3 Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor or equivalent.

· Previous experience working with an ice rink, health and wellbeing programme and swimming pool
