LOCATION Hamilton (currently remote working)

The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner is currently seeking to recruit an Information Co-ordinator to join her team who are based in Hamilton.

This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals to work in a fast-paced environment within a growing progressive organisation.

The PIRC was established in 2013 and is responsible for carrying out independent investigations into incidents involving the police and independently review the way the police handle complaints from the public.

Our aim is to secure public confidence in policing in Scotland by supporting continuous improvement and promoting positive change.

The successful candidate will provide support to the Information Officer in the delivery of the PIRC’s information and corporate governance processes. They will be expected to provide a variety of tasks requiring excellent administrative and organisational skills, and attention to detail. There may also be a requirement to, on occasion, cover other admin functions within the Corporate Services team/PIRC.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following specific duties (see candidate information pack for full details):

· Supporting the Information Officer to add value to the organisation through effective delivery of an internal audit process e.g. records management or data security (outwith formal PIRC internal and external audit process)

· Assisting the provision of responses made as information requests

· Analysing and searching for information which will meet the needs of a company audit or information request

This experience would ideally have been gained while working in a similar regulatory function, however this is not essential. With an ability to communicate clearly and concisely, the successful candidate will have experience of working effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and of performing the above administrative duties to a consistently high standard. The ability to self-manage your own workload, deliver within strict timescales in accordance with PIRC service standards, and work effectively in a team environment is also essential for the role.

The successful candidate require as a minimum Higher English (C or above) and three Standard Grades at C or above (or equivalent), with a qualification in a related subject or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role. They must be able to evidence their abilities to meet the essential requirements for the post.

The PIRC offers excellent career prospects, competitive pension and benefits and operates flexible working arrangements.

The position is based in Hamilton, although due to the current COVID pandemic staff are currently remote working. Please note the successful candidate must undergo vetting and Security Clearance (SC) prior to appointment.

The PIRC is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to promoting a diverse workforce, with an emphasis on the PIRC Values of integrity, impartiality and respect. We therefore encourage and would welcome applications from all members of the community. We are committed to the Disability Confident Initiative and offer a guaranteed interview to any applicant who meets all of the selection criteria required for the post and considers themselves to be disabled.
