We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Estates Surveyor/Property Manager to join our small but dynamic team. You will support in the day-to-day asset management of Scottish Canals' varied portfolio across the canal network.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Assisting in the management of all leases, third party trading agreements, ground leases, surface water discharge agreements and any other commercial contracts relating to our property assets.
  • Undertaking commercial negotiations, including property acquisitions and disposals, marketing, lease negotiations, rent reviews, rating, insurance and dilapidations.
  • Acting as the principal contact and property manager for our Residential Portfolio, you will deal with new lettings, co-ordinating repairs and carrying out regular property inspections of tenanted and vacant properties
  • Liaising with stakeholders and externals consultants in a professional manner
  • Responding to general property enquiries, providing a high level of customer service
  • Creating plans and examining title ownership
  • General Administration duties including upkeep of the property database, invoicing, and debt management in line with departmental budgets and processes
  • Supporting the Third Party Works process, negotiating and documenting appropriate Licences or agreements
  • Assisting in the day to day leasing and property management of third party properties

Skills and experience required:

  • Degree educated in relevant discipline
  • This post may suit nearly qualified or soon to be qualified candidates
  • Membership of RICS is desirable or the ability to demonstrate relevant property management experience.
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritise tasks
  • Able to work to targets and deadlines
  • Current UK driving licence essential

This is a permanent post based in Glasgow with a blended working model to ensure a flexible work/life balance and will require regular travel to other locations.

Scottish Canals offers flexible working, a generous annual leave entitlement of 34 days per annum rising to 39 after 5 years’ service (inc. public holidays), enhanced company sick pay and contributory pension scheme with an up to 10% matched employer contribution.

Salary range £35,00 – £40,000 dependent upon experience.
