The Scottish Railway Preservation Society (SRPS) exists to educate the general public in the history of railways in Scotland. It is dedicated to preserving, operating, and celebrating Britain’s railway history. Our mission is to maintain our historic line, rolling stock, and visitor experience for future generations. As a registered charity, we rely on a blend of volunteers, staff, donors, and supporters to keep the railway running. It achieves this through operation of the Museum of Scottish Railways, Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway and SRPS Railtours Ltd.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing day‑to‑day transactions, supporting the Financial Controller & Finance Director with ensuring up-to-date compliance with Companies Act Regulations, Charity Accounting & Regulatory Standards (FRS / SORP), and OSCR guidelines. This role is ideal for a ‘hands on’ individual with an ‘above & beyond and can do’ attitude, who enjoys working in a friendly, mission‑driven environment and wants to contribute to the preservation of railway heritage.

You will bring strong bookkeeping skills, attention to detail, and a positive, collaborative approach even when there are pressures or tight deadlines. Experience in the charity sector is essential; with experience of the heritage sector helpful - what matters most is accuracy, reliability, a positive approach and a willingness to improve processes and service levels.

In return, you will work in a unique setting where no two days are the same. You would be supported by the Financial Controller and a wider pool of volunteers who support our financial processes.
