About the role

We are recruiting to a permanent adviser post within our Professional Learning team.

As a Learning and Development Adviser you will carry out a diverse range of workforce development activities and duties. This adds to the challenge of the role but also makes the job interesting and varied. We are looking for an exceptional and versatile individual who thrives on challenge and is able to adapt their working style to accommodate the need to change direction, and move into a wide range of work areas, swiftly but effectively.

Who we are

We are the independent regulator for social service workers in Scotland. Our work means the people of Scotland can count on social services being provided by a trusted, skilled and confident workforce.

We protect the public by registering social service workers, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct, we can investigate and take action. There are over 200,000 people employed in social services in Scotland. Over 160,000 of these people are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

What you need to succeed

You will ideally be an experienced social worker with extensive experience in learning and workforce development across social work, childhood practice and specialist areas such as Mental Health Officer and Practice Learning. You will need extensive knowledge of current workforce development issues for social workers and the broader social services workforce.

Working in the Professional Learning team, your core work will involve the ongoing approval and quality assurance of SSSC regulated education and training. You will also contribute to current project work supporting newly qualified social workers and mental health officers

Why work for us

We are an ambitious, enthusiastic and supportive organisation. With around 300 employees, you can really make an impact here. New entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. We offer a generous salary, flexible working arrangements, a full range of benefits, local government pension scheme and up to 43 days holiday (dependent on service). Please note new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range.

Our office is in Dundee, but during COVID-19 this role is home based until there is no longer a requirement to physically distance. We actively encourage remote working and would support a less office-based format even after restrictions are lifted. We are developing our agile working policy and we are happy to discuss individual arrangements and consider agile working as an option depending on job requirements (such as attendance at the office for hearings, training events and meetings etc) and meeting the eligibility criteria as determined by the new policy. We welcome applications from candidates outside Dundee and the surrounding areas.
