Personal Assistant required in Whalsay, Shetland - 6hrs per week

A friendly and sociable gentleman living with dementia is looking for a compassionate and reliable Personal Assistant to provide support on a weekly basis.

He is physically active, enjoys keeping busy, and likes taking part in activities that support his interests and wellbeing. Due to difficulties with short-term memory, he would benefit from companionship, social interaction, and support to help maintain his independence. There is no personal care required as part of this role.

Location: Whalsay

Rate of Pay: Attractive rate of pay

Hours: 6 per week

The position involves a flexible 6-hour shift once per week, which can be worked either:

• 12.00pm to 6.00pm, or

• 5.00pm to 11.00pm

Due to the travel involved, including ferry journeys, this role would be particularly suitable for someone living locally in Whalsay.

Support may take place both within his home and out in the community, depending on his interests and preferences.

He likes spending time at home engaging in meaningful activities such as working on a memory book, playing cards and board games. He has always been a quiet person and needs robust encouraging to take part in conversations and make decisions.
