About the role

We’re looking for a Project Officer to join our small team delivering projects across South East Scotland.

As one of our Project Officers, you will be responsible for direct delivery of a range of projects covering the entire range of transportation. Some of our current projects include the development of a regional Bus Strategy, pioneering work around incorporating digital technology into the transport system, delivering a regional active travel behaviour change programme, and supporting the roll out of a public network of electric vehicle charging stations.

A key part of the role will be working to deliver our Regional Transport Strategy, both through your project work, contributing to subsequent strategies, and through working with our 8 partner local authorities to support their ambitions.

Within the partnership area there is a huge diversity of transportation issues that you will help address to build a more sustainable transport network that works for everyone. These issues range from urban congestion to rural public transport availability and promotion of active travel as an alternative to private cars.

About you

You will have proven experience in project management, and a strong understanding of key public transport and active travel issues and opportunities.

You’ll have a degree level qualification or experience in a relevant field, and the ability to work independently to come up with creative solutions to a range of challenges and to support the region’s transport strategy and contribute to involving stakeholders in policy development.

Excellent communication skills will be essential so that you will feel equally confident in dealing with decision makers or gathering information within our service.

Due to the nature of the role, you’ll need to be able to work flexibly and independently, managing a range of projects with multiple deadlines and supporting other members of the team as required.

About us
