These Project Activator posts will support two projects within the Sport and Active Communities division of Sport Aberdeen. The projects are SPACE (Supported Physical Activity for Care Experienced) and Community Sport, please see a brief overview of each of the projects below.

SPACE is an innovative, award-winning project that uses the positive benefits of sport and physical activity to help care experienced children and young people (CECYP) reach their full potential through bespoke interventions. The project is the evolution of the Looked After Project which began in August 2016 in partnership with Aberdeen City Council. As a corporate parent, Aberdeen City Council currently has responsibility for over 450 CECYP living within the city and throughout the UK. The project aims to remove barriers and support participants to improve their physical health, emotional wellbeing and enhance key life skills, using the power of sport and physical activity as a catalyst for positive change. For more information please contact Grant Wilson, Active Schools Operations Manager: grwilson@sportaberdeen.co.uk.

Sport Aberdeen’s Community Sport project engages with sports clubs across the city providing support and services in various ways. Our new Club Development programme is an innovative, exciting project that will increase the scale and depth in which we can provide this support to the clubs in Aberdeen. Working with various partners and with other departments across Sport Aberdeen, the post holder will support the delivery of this programme, supporting it to grow and helping to develop strong and sustainable clubs.
