Head of People

Salary: £50,000 | 35 hours per week

Annual Leave: 28 days plus 12 public holidays

The Head of People leads St Mary's Kenmure’s strategic and values‑driven People function. The role strengthens organisational culture, employee experience, workforce development, leadership capability, and operational excellence. The postholder ensures all people practices align to SMK’s values — Nurture, Connection, Stability, Opportunity to Thrive — and supports the organisation’s strategic ambitions.

We are seeking an experienced and values-led Head of People to join our Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the Head of Integrated Children's Services, you will lead our People function, providing strategic leadership across workforce planning, organisational culture, employee relations, recruitment, learning and development, wellbeing and organisational change.

This is a pivotal role at an exciting time for the organisation. You will develop and deliver our People Strategy, strengthen leadership capability, enhance staff engagement and wellbeing, and help shape a high-performing culture that supports both our workforce and the children and young people in our care.

We are looking for an experienced HR or People leader with strong employment law knowledge, excellent relationship-building skills and a proven track record of leading change within a complex organisation. Chartered CIPD membership and experience within a regulated environment are highly desirable.
