Bield is one of the largest providers of housing and support services to older people in Scotland. We value kindness above all, and at Bield, you will have a unique opportunity to have a positive impact, making it possible for more people to live their best lives, at home, surrounded by supportive communities.

The Role

We are seeking to recruit a Communications Officer to join our People and Digital Team, based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow. This is a key role responsible for delivering effective and impactful communications that enhance Bield’s reputation, support our strategic priorities, and engage customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.

In this role, you will develop and deliver a range of internal and external communications, including staff updates, briefings, intranet content, and wider internal channels. You will also be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of the organisation’s website and intranet, ensuring all content is accurate, current, and accessible.

The role will also support the coordination and promotion of events and campaigns, monitor and report on communications performance, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation. You will act as a first point of contact for communications enquiries and provide administrative support to the team, including mailbox, filing, and data management.

Hours of employment are 35 hours per week, organised over Monday – Friday.

The role is based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow, with regular travel across Bield sites and the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis.

Role Requirements

It is essential that you have experience working in a communications role, producing high‑quality written content across a range of channels and for a variety of audiences. You will have experience supporting website and intranet content, managing organisational social media channels, and delivering communications activity to tight deadlines. Strong organisational, digital, and IT skills are essential, along with the ability to build effective working relationships and work with initiative as part of a small, agile team.

Educated to HND level or equivalent experience is essential. Experience working with external suppliers, using design or digital tools, or within housing, care, voluntary or public sector organisations would be desirable, as would a relevant degree or professional qualification in communications or a related field.
