Job Description

Post holder will be part of a generalist team covering a wide range of Environmental Health functions in both urban and rural situations. The main duties of the post will include food safety,  pollution control, health and safety, noise, responding to statutory planning consultations, investigation of public health complaints/statutory nuisance, housing disrepair etc. The successful candidate may be required to work out with normal office hours, when necessary, to undertake investigations and/or monitor compliance.

Aberdeenshire Council does operate a hybrid working arrangement so working from home is an option.

You must have a sound knowledge of health and safety and public health legislation. In addition, you must have the ability to work to specific deadlines and possess excellent communication and IT skills. It is desirable that applicants hold the REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health, or its equivalent. Applications would be welcome from recently qualified Environmental Health Officers and consideration will be given to applications from graduates with BSc in Environmental Health who are looking to undertake the REHIS Diploma programme.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory
