We are seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Teacher of Support to work across both the primary and secondary (Academy) sectors of Rothesay Joint Campus. This is a key leadership role within our extended leadership team, focused on delivering high-quality support for children and young people with additional support needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Named Person for primary and secondary pupils within the Learning Centre
- Lead enhanced transitions: P7 to S1, and post-16 pathways
- Line management for Support Teachers and Support Assistants within the Learning Centre
- Oversee Additional Assessment Arrangements and Assistive Technologies
- Lead literacy and numeracy support programmes
- Drive whole-school nurturing approaches across the campus
- Provide strategic leadership of primary and secondary Learning Centres
- Lead “The Hive” (EAL support provision)
- Contribute to Support Department Improvement Planning, self-evaluation, and quality assurance
- Review and maintain ASN strategy sheets and individual child plans to ensure needs are met
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working in primary and/or secondary education (ideally both)
- Proven middle leadership experience
- Strong understanding of additional support needs and inclusive practices
Ability to lead teams and manage
- change effectively
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT - Appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence employment with Argyll and Bute Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year (which runs from 1 August to 31 July each year), recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue leave and pay. In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and leave and pay will be adjusted.
