Cultural Assistant – Part-time (five posts)

Bearsden Library is re-opening and we are looking for outgoing and enthusiastic people to join our team.

Your Library offers books and so much more - audiobooks to borrow, events for children and adults, free Wi-Fi, computer access, community information and a wide range of free online services. The library is a safe, warm space for everyone to read, discover, learn, relax and socialise – it’s the heart of our community!

Your Library is staffed by Cultural Assistants, who are there to help people find what they’re looking for and get the most out of the service.

We are looking to recruit five part-time Cultural Assistants to help ensure we can continue to deliver the best possible service – details below.

Cultural Assistants need to be the kind of person who enjoys interacting with, and helping our customers, of all ages from across the whole community. We aim to give excellent customer care, so you should be flexible and a good communicator, and have recent experience of assisting customers.

You will have the opportunity to assist in the delivery of our activities for children, young people and adults and to support our Digital Learning sessions. No specialist library experience is required, and we undertake to offer you full training and support, however previous experience in working with groups of people would be helpful, as would an interest in and enthusiasm for books and reading.

We use ICT to manage and deliver library services so you will need to be confident using ICT and happy learning about our specific systems.

Our service is one where your ability to be flexible and work as part of a team will make a real difference and offer you a rewarding and enjoyable role.

EDLCT is committed to ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion, and eliminating unlawful discrimination. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from suitably qualified people of all backgrounds.

The five posts have different hours and working patterns. In your application, please tell us which posts you would interested in.
