Are you looking for the opportunity to develop your career in the libraries sector?

We are looking for a part-time Team Leader to provide support to Cultural Assistants and help develop services across library branches.   The post is being offered as internal development opportunities for existing EDLCT colleagues.

Your Library offers books and so much more - audiobooks to borrow, events for children and adults, free Wi-Fi, computer access, community information and a wide range of free online services. The library is a safe, warm space for everyone to read, discover, learn, relax and socialise – it’s the heart of our community!

Your Library is led by Team Leaders, who are there to support the local team in delivering a great service to our users.

The Team Leader is the heart of our library – ensuring our staff are fully supported, our stock is presented well and the library is a welcoming and enjoyable space for people to use. Team Leaders are creative programmers, organising events like Book Groups, digital drop ins, craft sessions and Quiz Nights; as well as hosting events organised by colleagues – such as BookBugs and authors’ talks.

A Team Leader needs to enjoy working with people, of all ages from across the whole community – our staff team, our customers and our local community. We aim to give excellent customer service and you will need to be flexible and a good communicator.

You keep the library running safely and well, so you’ll be comfortable working methodically and recording information, and keeping on top of our health and safety obligations.

You should have  operational experience of working with the public in a culture or sport venue and an interest in libraries. We use ICT to manage and deliver library services so you will need to be confident using ICT and happy learning about our specific systems.

Our service is one where your ability to be flexible and work as part of a team will make a real difference and offer you a rewarding and enjoyable role.

EDLCT is committed to ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion, and eliminating unlawful discrimination. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from suitably qualified people of all backgrounds.
