We're looking for a talented and creative communications or media professional to join our Communications Service. It's a key role in helping to ensure communities, local residents and council employees are well informed about Council activities and decision-making. The jobholder will help to deliver the Council's news and media output and contribute to effective internal communications content for employees. They will advise colleagues and elected members on various aspects of media relations, communication channels and messaging and should have the ability to create communications material in a variety of formats tailored to the needs of audiences.

Home Working Consideration

Job Details

To play a key role in delivering the council’s internal and external communication strategy, building and maintaining relationships with a specific Service Area(s) within the council to establish and deliver its key objectives.

S/he will be responsible for multi-disciplinary communications campaigns to reach target audiences and ensure the council’s priorities are widely understood and recognised. This involves producing news releases, answering media enquiries, preparing content for the website, social media and internal comms; organising events and developing promotional materials.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate subject ie PR, Marketing, Communications and/ or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.
