Lead Officer - Climate Change

This role provides an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to work within a dynamic team that drives Falkirk Council’s approach to carbon reduction and sustainability.  Bringing together local strategy with Scottish Government’s timetable for climate change and energy efficiency, you will work across all Council services to drive and facilitate action to address our climate change targets and ambitions.

You will report to the Energy and Climate Change Co-ordinator and will have responsibility for providing expertise in areas of Climate Change, Adaptation and Energy Efficiency. Focusing on both internal organisational objectives, as well as area wide perspective, you will help develop policies and strategies within these subjects. This is a wide-ranging role which requires an individual who has broad knowledge and innovative ideas on climate change, adaptation, affordability and energy efficiency.

You will have responsibility for assisting in the development and co-ordination of a range of reports, programmes and projects which will address the issues and impacts of climate change and energy including compliance with relevant legislation and obligations.

You will have a relevant degree in an appropriate discipline and have relevant post qualification experience and knowledge of energy and climate change issues and practices, as well as an understanding of current and proposed initiatives and legislation. In addition, the ability to write concise, structured and meaningful reports is paramount.
