Educational:
Essential:
Educated to HNC or SVQ3 level in business administration or related subject and/extensive experience working in an administrative role, managing a team, scheduling/monitoring work. It is essential the jobholder has competency in literacy and numeracy skills, such as an education to Higher standard including passes in Mathematics and English, or equivalent.
Experience:
Essential
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office suite, Word, Excel, Outlook
- Knowledge of and experience in using databases
- Considerable previous office experience, preferably in an educational or social care environment, demonstrating supervisory, organisation, budgetary and communication skills is essential.
- Experience of managing a busy office environment and supervising staff
- Ability to prioritise and organise a range of tasks
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Customer Service and/or reception experience
- Previous financial operational and/or budget management experience.
- PVG Membership (Children)
Desirable
Previous experience in developing and implementing new ways of working including implementing new systems and procedures utilising new technology.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £30,619.22 per annum.
Requirements
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children, You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
