We are recruiting a Business Manager for the Place Directorate, to ensure the effective operations of the Chief Executive’s Office, Member Support and Place Directorate Management Team. The post holder will be develop and maintain all administrative systems for the Chief Executive’s Office, Member Support and the Place Directorate; provide secretarial support to the Chief Executive; undertake research and analysis; respond to queries and co-ordinate administrative matters pertaining to the Council as a whole.

 

KNOWLEDGE

 

An HNC in Business Administration or a similar subject, or evidence of equivalent competency, particularly in literacy and numeracy skills is required as well as keyboard skills and competency in manipulating a variety of software packages including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

Short hand skills and a HND/degree in business administration or related subject are desirable.

Experience of working in a complex organisation and having an understanding of the role of Local Government along with previous experience of demonstrating excellent customer service including working with many different organisations is an essential requirement of the post.

Experience of introducing and developing administrative systems and of undertaking research & analysis and making recommendations on small projects is desirable.

Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £39,128.74 per annum.

Responsibilities

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this PSN Disclosure check will be met by you.

Please note that Disclosure Scotland has changed the way disclosure certificates are issued. You will be notified by email from Disclosure Scotland that your certificate is available to view. Once you have viewed your certificate you will be allowed to share this with your employer and it is only available for 14 days from the first day you have viewed the certificate. If you do not grant access to Midlothian Council to view before access is removed, a further application will need to be generated, and this will incur an additional cost.
