Bill Prentice Court is a new extra care facility located in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.

We are looking for caring and motivated Care Support workers to join our Extra Care housing team. You will support tenants to live independently within there own homes, promoting dignity, choice and wellbeing at all times.

 

KNOWLEDGE

 

The jobholder should have a SVQ2 in Care, Direct Care or equivalent. If the jobholder does not have this qualification they must obtain once in role within 2 years. S/he will be encouraged and assisted to achieve such qualification via in-house training during their normal working day. Registration with the SSSC is expected within 3 months of starting in post.

Jobholder must have basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand written instructions and be able to collect pensions, spend cash when shopping for clients etc. S/he also requires domestic experience of undertaking a range of household tasks and be aware of the roles of other people in the provision of care eg relatives, friends, children other health professionals etc. S/he will need to be able to work without direct supervision and have a responsible and self-reliant approach with the ability to respond to unplanned situations in a calm and flexible manner.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on 31 hours 50 minutes over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £24,929.95 per annum.

Based on 21 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £16,447.65 per annum. 

Requirements

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
