This position is for a Children and Families Practitioner within our Early Intervention and Prevention team. We are looking for a Practitioner who can provide a high-quality social work service to children, young people, and their families in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines. You will be responsible for work undertaken with children and families, which will include being on a duty rota to manage intake and new referrals which will include assessing needs of children or young people affected by disabilities, assessing risk planning and delivering outcome focused interventions to safeguard and promote better outcomes for children and young people. You will be responsible for direct work with children, young people, parents, and other professionals. The role requires a Practitioner with good organisational skills, initiative, and willingness to work with vulnerable and challenging clients. Relevant induction, supervision and workplace training is provided to support workers to be an active part of the team.
Essential:
- Educated to HNC social care and SVQ Level 3 (children and young people) or equivalent with a relevant discipline.
- Experience of working with the national and local practice, policy, procedure, and legislation relevant to the post. This includes an awareness of the SSSC Code of Practice, Human Rights legislation, United Nation Convention of the Rights of Child and getting it right for every child.
- Have experience of working with children and families including child development, and trauma-based interventions,
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of systemic interventions and methodologies, such as attachment promoting, trauma-based therapy, child development and parenting capacity.
- Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of key agencies.
Desirable:
- Experience of delivering parenting programmes or other group work.
- Specialist experience of working with children and families in crisis or at risk
