The postholder will coordinate and deliver programmes related to adult literacy and numeracy and ESOL. They will work with a team of tutors and volunteers to ensure learners set and achieve their goals and identify areas for improvement for the delivery of ALN/ESOL in Midlothian.
The postholder will be responsible for liaising with Edinburgh College to ensure we meet the criteria for ESOL funding and registering learners for credits. They will work local and national stakeholders to support the development of best practice in ALN and ESOL and with colleagues in Midlothian Council and partners to maximise opportunities for additional funding and opportunities.
The postholder will liaise with the local resettlement team to ensure that our ESOL programmes are meeting the needs of those moving into Midlothian.
KNOWLEDGE
It is essential that the post holder has extensive experience of delivering communities and lifelong learning programmes and projects including delivery of accredited opportunities. It is desirable that they have supervised either volunteers and or staff.
It is essential that the postholder has one or more qualification at SCQF Level 8 (or higher) or equivalent work experience/ qualifications in Community Education or Teaching or Employability or Social Policy or equivalent relevant communities and lifelong learning experience including trade certificates. It is desirable that they hold verifier and assessor qualifications acceptable to SQA and other accreditation bodies.
It is essential that the post holder has experience of planning community learning and development interventions, programmes and projects. It is desirable that they have experience of co-ordinating and delivering ALN and ESOL to a range of adult learners.
It is desirable that they have experience of supporting internal or external working groups to lead on key communities and lifelong learning themes

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 18 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £19,564.37 per annum.
