We are seeking an Occupational Therapist who is dedicated and passionate about enhancing community services for adults in Midlothian, particularly in the areas of frailty management and falls prevention.
Midlothian Assessment and Rehab Team are an integrated service, part of the Home First Service. Our remit includes both rapid assessments aimed at preventing hospital admission and a slow-stream rehabilitation service supporting longer-term recovery and independence. You will work in close partnership with physiotherapists, ensuring a coordinated and person-centred approach to assessment, intervention and rehabilitation planning.
In this role, you will manage a diverse and complex caseload, undertaking holistic assessment, collaborative goal setting, intervention planning, and review. Your caseload may include individuals with neurological conditions, orthopaedic issues, long-term conditions, and a range of other complex needs affecting functional independence and safety.
You will contribute to the supervision, support, and development of colleagues, support workers, and students, fostering a positive learning environment within the team.
Working flexibly, you will deliver timely assessments within people’s homes—aligned to the Home First approach—while also providing ongoing rehabilitation and reablement interventions to optimise function, reduce risk, and promote autonomy.

KNOWLEDGE
You will hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and be currently registered with the Health Professions Council.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £44,989.60 per annum.
