A vacancy has arisen for a Social Worker in Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnership’s Adult Support and Protection Team.  The team work closely with colleagues in the other specialist teams within Adult Social Work including Older People, Learning Disability, Physical Disability/Long Term Conditions, Community Mental Health, Substance Use and Duty.

It is essential that the successful candidate will be a qualified Council Officer having completed Adult Support and Protection Level 3 training. The successful candidate will bring recent experience of ASP work which should include assessing whether or not the adult meets the definition of an adult at risk of harm. The ASP Team receive referrals from a range of sources including Police, NHS, Scottish Fire and Rescue and members of the public. The pace of work can fluctuate and the successful candidate will be able to work effectively under pressure and be self-motivated to maintain their records to the agreed standard and complete required paperwork within relevant timescales.

The team comprises of a Team Leader, three Social Workers and a Community Care Assistant who support Council Officers with inquiries into the adult’s finances, property and assets. The successful candidate will need to work well in a small, supportive team where there is an emphasis on developing the team’s experience of the application of ASP legislation. They will need excellent communication skills and be able to engage with clients who present with a wide-range of issues. 

The post holder will be based in Fairfield House but in the current climate the team members are able to work at home with the agreement of the Team Leader.

A recognised qualification in Social Work and registration with the SSSC as a Social Worker.

 

ASP Level 3 Council Officer training and have practiced as a Council Officer.

 

 

Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and timescales. The successful candidate will have an understanding of Adult Support and Protection, including the definition of an adult at risk of harm, and how this translates into practice.
