Midlothian Council are inviting applications from candidates with specialist plant experience to help us deliver a variety of exciting projects utilising our extensive fleet which has seen investment to ensure we have the tools to deliver quality projects for our communities.
We have current requirement to fulfil roles in operation of our gully vehicles as the predominant section of this appointment – however candidates should be open to training and change.
Candidates should have experience in, and qualifications to back up in a variety of the below – however we are a ‘great place to grow’ and successful candidate will be given training to gain skills on the items of plant they currently are not trained on. The list is not exhaustive, and we are currently looking for new ways to deliver projects.
Significant overtime and winter maintenance on call will be available to successful candidates typically resulting in annual earnings in excess of £40k.

KNOWLEDGE
Essential
Jobholders must hold SVQ Level 3 in Civil Engineering Technologies/Highways Maintenance or equivalent, or relevant HNC qualification along with extensive post qualification experience in the road maintenance industry, in particular operating specialist plant.
They must be familiar and confident to carry out a variety of tasks as outlined in the main duties section and be able to safely operate a number of items of plant associated to the tasks.
Full clean HGV Class C driving licence.
SVQ Level 2 module in winter maintenance
