Job Description
To support the Community Protection Service in maintaining and improving private sector housing conditions across Moray by providing advice, processing statutory registrations, creating and maintaining accurate records, and assisting the service with investigations and enforcement activity.
Responsibilities
To provide advice and guidance on all aspects of private housing legislation.
To process applications for landlord registration using the online register
To assist the Community Protection Service with regulatory activity by providing advice on all aspects of Landlord Registration under the Antisocial Behaviour etc. (Scotland) Act 2004 and supporting the full range of enforcement activities as required.
To assist in the licensing of Short Term Let and Houses in Multiple Occupation.
Maintain accurate and timely electronic records by entering and updating information within UNI-form and the Document Management System (DMS) for new commercial premises, food business registrations, private water supply (PWS) sources, and Trading Standards premises.
Liaise with colleagues in other Council Services providing guidance as required.
Screening planning applications to assist with the assessment of relevant contaminated land planning conditions.
The Individual
Experience of working with different software packages.
Experience of working within a Customer focused environment.
Educated to Scottish National 5 level or equivalent, including English and Maths.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle conflict.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word.
The ability to work with minimum supervision, managing own workload to meet targets.
Appreciation and acceptance of the importance of confidentiality.
Ability to relate well to staff and customers at all levels.
Self-motivated with a commitment to delivering quality services.
Ability to travel between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.
Ability to make site visits when required including accessing restricted spaces and remote locations.
Flexibility to meet service needs including occasional evening and weekend work.
