Living in North Ayrshire

If you're looking for quality of life

North Ayrshire covers an area of 340 square miles and includes the islands of Arran, Great Cumbrae and Little Cumbrae.

The region is one of diversity and contrasts, taking in urban landscapes, echoing a strong industrial past, as well as rolling hills, lush river valleys and stunning coastlines.

From busy towns like Irvine, Kilwinning, Ardrossan and Largs to peaceful villages such as Fairlie, whatever you're looking for from life, chances are you'll find it here.

Everyone living here benefits from the work we do. From our commitment to upgrading roads, pavements and street lighting to the major schools building project which has seen a new school built every year since 1996, our work is helping make our region an even better place to be.

North Ayrshire is easy to reach and close to two major international airports (Prestwick and Glasgow). Great road links connect the region to the rest of the UK - for example, on the M77 you can reach Glasgow in around 40 minutes, while Edinburgh is just 90 minutes away by rail.

The area boasts some great sporting facilities and activities, with over 22 golf courses (seven of which are on Arran) and a national watersport centre on Cumbrae. The region is home to two marinas as well as the Scottish Sailing Institute, putting it firmly on the international yachting map.

Add to this a great choice of housing, a strong cultural heritage that dates back to Burns and some of the best scenery in Scotland and it's easy to see why people feel at home here.
