Working with a variety of partners, the Place service has a key role in guiding this regeneration towards sustainable development. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the planning and delivery of the council’s new supply programme which aims to deliver 6,000 new homes by 2035.

Based at the Civic Centre, Motherwell you will be working within a multi disciplinary environment, responsible for new build social housing projects within Planning & Regeneration. Due to the geographical spread of the on-site workload, travel throughout North Lanarkshire will be required.

The Clerk of Works should educated to an SVQ Level 3/HNC/ Apprenticeship or equivalent in a Building related discipline is essential. Membership of Institute of Clerk of Works is desirable. Extended relevant experience of new build social housing as a Clerk of Works or site management is essential.

You should also be a good communicator with knowledge of current building regulations and Health & Safety legislation.

A Disclosure Level 1 check is required for this post.

This is a temporary position until 31 October 2027

Work pattern:

35 hours per week - Monday - Thursday: 08:45am - 16:45pm (including a 55 minute unpaid break)

Friday: 08:45am - 16:15pm (including a 50 minute unpaid break)

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
