North Lanarkshire Council have made a commitment to deliver new Community Hub facilities with the aim is to deliver inclusive learning environments where state-of-the-art facilities are provided for children, young people and members of the community.

This post is a 23-month fix term post working in the Telecomms Team supporting the technology requirements for the delivery of Digital Services to the Hubs.

You will have good knowledge and technical understanding of ICT infrastructure technologies, particularly for Data Cabling design and specifications, Cisco Switching and Routing technologies, Cisco Voice and Cisco Wireless.

The remit of the Telecomms team includes the design, develop and maintain the Council’s ICT infrastructure. Supporting the Council to meet the needs of its internal customers utilising and developing IT solutions that make best use of technology to provide efficient, secure and effective services.

Although based at Motherwell Civic Square, due to the nature of the post a predominant aspect to the role will require the post holder to provide a peripatetic service, exercising initiative and independence in dealing with any issues that arise throughout the life of these projects.

With an SVQ3, HND or equivalent in an ICT related subject, preferably with accreditations or training in ICT Technology subjects, such as Cisco CCNA. Training and qualifications in other related best practice subjects such as Prince2, ITIL, management and leadership will be advantageous.

You will have significant work experience in an ICT infrastructure development and support role and be able to demonstrate experience and capability of interpreting and defining customer requirements.

As a developing IT Professional, you will be able to demonstrate technical analytical and problem-solving skills, be self-motivated and organised, be able to work to targets, demonstrate experience of project work, and react appropriately and quickly to challenges. Good oral and written communication skills are also essential.

This position is temporary until 30th December, 2026.

You must hold a current UK driving licence to apply for this role.

Working Pattern

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:45am - 4:45pm (including a 55-minute unpaid break)
  • Friday: 8:45am - 4:15pm (including a 50-minute unpaid break)
