NLC13 £51,557 - £56,511 plus enhancement for non core hours.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Social Work Emergency Service (SWES) for a Senior Social Worker. SWES provides timely and creative support to individuals in urgent need or where there is a need of protection for adults and children. We work closely with both internal and external partners, working closely with colleagues in Home Support, Community Alarms and Children and Families staff who work out of hours. We know that delivering quality services starts with having the right people working here, in the right job at the right time, with the right skills, abilities and attributes to fulfil our commitment of delivering high quality services.

SWES is a part of North Lanarkshire Council’s Education and Families Directorate. You will join our team implementing the Council’s ambitious programme of work: resilient people, supporting the transformation of our services and improving outcomes for all in our communities. You will support the management team in ensuring that the out of hours emergency response to individuals and families is aligned with the service delivery across children and families, adults and justice social work services whilst working in partnership with wider NLC services and other key partners.

The service operates outwith normal office hours and delivers a ‘generic’ response to calls from a range of stakeholders, including the police, health and the public. The ‘duty manager’ for SWES also has lead responsibilities for a range of social work out of hour’s services and contingency planning, including the Community Alarm Service and Home Support Service.

You will provide quality management and leadership in the team to ensure the service responds to need and promote a high standard of practice. You will require strong leadership skills to lead and motivate employees to ensure a culture of effective service delivery and that quality outcomes are delivered. Following a recent review of SWES, you will be involved in progressing service improvement planning and service developments with wider Council services.

Significant post qualifying experience is essential including experience in a relevant discipline. A track record of successful inter agency working, leadership skills together with knowledge of risk assessment and risk management frameworks are essential as are excellent verbal and written skills. We would particularly welcome applications from Social Workers who hold an MHO qualification.

You must have a CQSW/DipSW or equivalent, along with significant post qualifying experience in Social Work and be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role.

Current work pattern involves a three-week rota which includes working a combination of week day evenings between 4.30pm and 1am, and weekend early shifts between 8.30am and 5pm or late shifts between 4.30pm and 1am.

Interviews for this post will take place on Wednesday 18 December 2024.
