North Lanarkshire Council is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and highly organised Senior Technician (Assets & Systems) to join its Community Operations team.
As part of our ongoing commitment to service improvement, digital transformation and effective asset management, we are enhancing our technical support capacity to strengthen performance management, compliance monitoring and business intelligence across Enterprise & Communities. This newly established role will provide essential leadership and specialist technical expertise, supporting the delivery of efficient, innovative and customer-focused services.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with strong technical, analytical and supervisory skills to play a key role in supporting frontline service delivery. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and continuous improvement of systems, processes and performance frameworks, helping to shape the future of service delivery through the effective use of data, technology and innovation.
Reporting to the Technical Officer (Systems & Assets), you will lead and supervise a technical support team while coordinating a diverse range of activities, including systems administration and development, data analysis, project coordination, performance reporting and compliance management. Working closely with colleagues across the service, you will drive service improvement through the effective use of business systems, performance intelligence and digital technologies, ensuring that operational and strategic objectives are delivered efficiently and effectively.
About the Role
As Senior Technician, you will:
- Lead and supervise a technical support team, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality services.
- Coordinate projects, monitor progress and support the achievement of key service objectives.
- Develop and maintain performance reporting systems, dashboards and management information.
- Support compliance, audit and quality assurance activities across the service.
- Assist with the development and implementation of software applications and business systems.
- Analyse data and produce reports to support decision making and service improvement.
- Deliver training and guidance to staff on systems and applications.
- Support the management of mobile communications and other service-wide systems.
- Contribute to service planning, change initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- An SVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline.
- Significant experience in a technical, systems or business support environment.
- Experience of supervising staff and coordinating workloads.
- Knowledge of performance management, compliance and service improvement.
- Strong analytical skills with experience producing reports and performance information.
- Excellent IT skills and experience working with business applications and systems.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A customer-focused approach with the ability to work collaboratively across services.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.

Additional Information
The successful candidate must be able to travel throughout North Lanarkshire and will occasionally be required to work outdoors in roadside conditions to support survey and inspection activities.
Working Pattern:
Monday - Thursday: 08:45 to 16:45 (55 min break)
Friday: 08:45 to 16:15 (50 min break)
