An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Managing Solicitor post within the projects team in Legal and Democratic Services. We are seeking a dynamic, engaging and dedicated professional to become part of our legal team providing construction and projects advice to Council departments, Scotland Excel and council officers.

 

You will provide advice and support in relation to the Council’s varied projects and construction advice and support in connection with planned and ongoing construction procurement for the Council. You will be part of a successful and motivated team working in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Although this is primarily a non-contentious Project role, you will be required to assist with the contentious case load from time to time.

 

You will hold a current Practising Certificate, LLB and a Diploma in Legal Practice. 

 

It is further essential that you:

 

  • Have significant construction experience and be able to carry out a range of tasks within a broad construction-based remit.
  • Have an ability to deal with complex legal matters and have contract drafting skills.
  • Possess knowledge of how the EU procurement rules affect local authority projects and construction contracts and framework agreements.
  • Able to demonstrate involvement in projects either in the public or private sector, and an ability to make a contribution to the successful delivery of such projects

.

It is desirable that you:

 

  • Have experience instructing and managing external advisors and experts.
  • Possess knowledge of the governance arrangements of the Council
