Building Standards Surveyor

 

Renfrewshire is one of the larger authorities in Scotland with a population of 180,000 covering both urban and rural communities. Its area attracts major development opportunities and interests including Glasgow Airport, the major Riverside developments at Braehead and Renfrew, and the former Royal Ordnance Factory, Bishopton Community Growth Area together with an ambitious Council-led capital investment programme.

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for three building standards surveyors to join our team assess building warrant applications, carry out site inspections, determine completion certificates and provide assistance to members of the public on matters relating to Building Standards.

 

This is an ideal time to join Renfrewshire Council as our transformational programme continues to be implemented, while exciting and ambitious developments including those related to City Deal, Cultural Infrastructure and our Housing investment programme that seek to positively shape Renfrewshire for years to come.

 

It is essential you are educated to degree level or equivalent in a construction related discipline and it is desirable that you are a member of an appropriate professional body.

 

You must have considerable and relevant experience within a Local Authority Building Standards environment and experience of plan assessment and inspecting construction works.

 

A comprehensive knowledge of the Building (Scotland) Act 2003 and associated legislation is essential, as are effective IT Skills, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. In addition, you must have the ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

 

You must have the availability to participate in dangerous building stand by rota.
