Construction Health & Safety Adviser
You will be responsible for overseeing Health & Safety matters relating to the delivery of all Council construction projects as well as supporting the repair and capital investment projects (Externals & Internal) within the Housing Asset & Investment Team. These projects will contribute to the delivery of the Scottish Housing Quality Standard and relevant energy efficiency/net zero legislative requirements pertaining to Renfrewshire Council housing stock.
You will work alongside relevant managers to ensure safe delivery of Council programmes and individual projects, from initial preconstruction planning to completion as well as all related CDM matters.
You will monitor contractors involved in Investment programmes and manage and review all safety related information. You will work closely with the Housing Investment Compliance team
A certain amount of mobility will be required in conducting the post, for example climbing ladders, walking over uneven ground, carrying training materials or equipment.
It Is essential you have a NEBOSH General Construction Certificate and NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent and working towards Chartered membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent professional body
It is essential you have experience in developing pre-construction information, plans, submitting F10s and procedures for construction projects
You must have experience of a construction environment, working in a CDM capacity as well as provision of advice and guidance on construction health and safety matters to managers and employees of all levels
It is essential that you have experience in site audits and inspections, investigation of accidents and incidents and recommending appropriate preventative measures.
You must have a clear understanding of the current construction health and safety issues and legislation impacting on employers and have the ability to use all methods of communication to engage, influence and gain support to keep the construction sites safe.
It is essential that you have a flexible approach, are highly motivated and able to work on your own initiative, as well as innovative and able to treat people with respect at all levels.
You must be innovative and have effective written & verbal communication skills, and the ability to establish relationships with Clients/Designers.
It is essential that you have a Full Driving License as flexibility to cover events out-with normal hours and weekends is required.
