 You will work as part of the staff team responsible for the day-to-day operation and development of a day service for adults with learning disabilities and autism.

 

The main duties of the post will include coordinating and providing a range of activities in the day service and within the wider community.  You will also be involved in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of service requests; link worker responsibility; providing the required support to service users to enable them to achieve aspects of their care plans, this may include duties relation to: personal care, health needs, challenging behaviour etc; supporting D.S.A.’s sessional workers and volunteers to fulfil their role; facilitating the participation of service users into the community and in doing so facilitate positive relationships with the wider community; ensuring that health & stimulating environments are maintained for service users & that all of these processes encompasses the ethos of the service.

 

You should understand the needs of people with a learning disability and/or autism and have the ability to: complete written and electronic records and care plans.

 

You must be enthusiastic and motivated, Work as part of a team, organise groups and/or be able to work alone. It is essential have a knowledge of computer IT packages, effective Communication skills to communicate with service users, carers and other professionals and a positive view of the welfare of people and families experiencing difficulties.

 

It is essential that you are willing to work towards obtaining SVQ level 3 in Social Care.  Possession of this qualification already is desirable.

 

You must be registered with the SSSC or other appropriate Social Care Regulatory Body or be able to register if not already.

 

Driving Licence is desirable but not essential.
